Heal the Field - Design Thinking booklet
In St. Louis, Missouri the Arch Grounds, Chouteau’s Landing and the Mississippi river are three fields disconnected by edges that limit the ability to connect physically and subjectively. The fields have desolate zones, levee walls and a preconceived disconnect with the river by seasonal, unsafe water levels and pollution. We can blur this demarcation by activating/ reconstructing the edges. [soft edge: internalize, hard edge: filter, preconceived edge: bridge] To heal the water field safely, manipulate the levee and plug into the sewer systems. A water filtration research facility can educate the city and public pools can provide a civic landscape, healing the fields from a lack of walkability, view and swimmability.
